Parenting Coordination

Divorce is an overwhelming and stressful time for all members of a family. Many parents have a hard time knowing how to shift from a conflict laden relationship based on spousal discontent to an effective co parenting relationship. Parenting Coordination is a alternative form of dispute resolution for families who are experiencing a high conflict divorce. Parenting Coordinators (PCs) are court appointed and help reduce parental conflict (and the effects the conflict has on the child), ensure that custody agreements are followed and reduce court appearances. The overall goal of Parenting Coordination is to encourage parents to become more child focused, learn ways to effectively parent in the new situation, and minimize unnecessary stress on the child.

I have been a Certified Parenting Coordinator since 2013 and am on the court approved parenting coordinator list in Orange, Wake, and Durham counties. My focus is not only on solving the current problem but determining how to prevent similar conflicts from occurring in the future. In order to prevent conflict escalation, calls can usually be set up within a day of when they are requested and in person appointments can generally be held the week of the request. Further, video conference calls can be utilized as needed.
